New Virtue Name Possibilities

We all know the story of the first Thanksgiving. On that day, pilgrims settled in Massachusetts. The group of names we tend to associate with them are virtue names.

Many virtue names, such as Grace and Mercy, are feminine and have been used for centuries. Some virtue names, like Justice and Haven, are unisex and modern. Yet, several of them are just waiting to enter the spotlight.

Here are some new virtue name possibilities in honor of Thanksgiving regardless of gender. Some of these may have been adopted by Puritans, but none of them ever ranked in the United States.

Bravery

Brave is an adjective common in everyday language, which might not make it the best first name option. Yet, Bravery, the virtue, sounds more name-like. Some people think this is hard to live up to, but I think it can help children through life's struggles.

Credence

Credence means "true belief." Such a meaning can give a child the sense that they are truly loved and encourage them to trust their own beliefs.

Deliverance

Deliverance refers to the act of becoming free. It's quite long, but it also has multiple syllables and nickname options like Dell and Vera.

Eternity

Eternity refers to anything that never ends. Even though life on Earth is not permanent, this name can assure children that some things, including love, will never change.

Glory

Glory refers to happiness or joy, both things parents want for their children. It can also honor a Gloria.

Infinity

This almost means the same as Eternity, except that it encourages children to reach for their dreams without limiting themselves.

Loyalty

Loyalty, meaning "legal", rhymes with the up-and-coming feminine hit Royalty. Such a name will encourage one to follow the rules.

Remembrance

Remembrance is just as long as Deliverance and comes with nicknames like Remi. The virtue refers to memory. Hence, this name gives children the sense that they will never be forgotten. There's also Remember, but I'm not too keen on verbs as given names.

True

True means the same thing as Credence. It also fits in with other single-syllable virtues like Grace and Creed. It fits in with names containing the "oo" sound like Luke and Ruby, too. Netflix children's TV show "True and the Rainbow Kingdom" make this name more accessible to parents.

Verity

This feminine name has the same meaning as Credence and True. As an elaboration of Vera, it also makes a great alternative to Everly.

Which of these new virtue name possibilities are your favorites?
