Movement

  • Leroy, Bernard, Harold, Grover, Lester, Clifford, Leon, Lloyd, Harrison, and Russell entered the top 100.
  • Dan, Rufus, Perry, Jerry, Willis, Alex, Dave, Eddie, Stephen, and Julius left the top 100.
  • Cleveland shot dramatically into the top 100 before falling out again.
  • Harry and Edward entered the top 10.
  • Thomas and Henry left the top 10.
  • Roy and Clarence entered the top 20.
  • David and Joe left the top 20.
  • Earl, Paul, Raymond, Ralph, Ben, and Claude entered the top 50.
  • Michael, Martin, Jim, Harvey, Jacob, and Bert left the top 50.
Trends
  • Classic names were popular (Theodore, Philip, Henry, Patrick, John, Andrew, Frederick, etc.)
  • Surname-names were also in style (Russell, Warren, Milton, Clifford, Lester, Allen, Harrison, etc.)
  • Names ending in "er" were stylish (Chester, Grover, Elmer, Homer, Oliver, Luther, Alexander, etc.)
  • Nickname-names were also in style (Harry, Fred, Joe, Willie, Charlie, Sam, Ben, Tom, Jim, etc.)
What was the most interesting change from the boys' top 100 of the 1880s?
