  • Two-syllable "d" names fell from favor (Darlene, Debbie).

  • Names starting with "mel" became stylish (Melanie, Melinda, Melissa).
  • Names starting with the "kris" sound came into use (Christina, Kristin, Kristen, Christine).
  • Names ending in "acy" came into heavy use (Tracy, Stacy, Tracey, Stacey). 
  • T names ending in "a" came into use (Tamara, Tonya, Tanya, Tina).
